Skill level: Beginner+ No experience needed. Ideal if you’ve never used a sewing machine, or haven’t in years as we go through the basics at the beginning of the class.

Class size: Up to 6 people

Ages: 16+

Pattern: Trapezoid Skirt by DIY Daisy. 

You’ll learn

• Sewing machine basics: threading a machine, basic terminology, using different stitches, sewing curves and corners + more
• How to draft your own skirt pattern + cut woven fabric following the grain line
• General sewing techniques: seam allowance, backstitch, pressing, unpicking + more
• How to use an overlocker machine
• How to assemble a skirt with an elasticated waistband

• Fabric, sewing machines and tools
• Pattern paper and construction instructions (take home + make again)
• Free tea, hot chocolate, coffee + treats throughout the day
• Step-by-step teaching throughout

Our new sewing studio in Cardiff Bay! Studio 1, Frazer Buildings, 126 Bute Street, Cardiff Bay, CF10 5LE. A 1 minute walk from Cardiff Bay train station. 

Good to know
Workshop times are a guide. Everyone sews at their own pace, so the class may finish a little earlier or later depending on the group. If you finish early, you’re welcome to head off.
